Dom Castellitto, Owner Of Dom's Bakery In Hoboken, Has Died At 78

HOBOKEN, NJ — Just three months after announcing his retirement and closing beloved Hoboken business Dom's Bakery, longtime Hoboken bread baker Dom Castellitto has died at 78.

He passed away peacefully Monday surrounded by loved ones, his obituary says.

On Facebook on Tuesday, JoAnne Castellitto Perkins wrote:

"It is with extreme sadness that we announce our beloved husband, father, pop pop and great pop pop has left this earth to be with his family and friends in heaven. We have been lucky to have him here with us for so long and will miss him dearly. Daddy I love you and will miss you forever. Rest easy with angels and make them the best loaf of bread ever."

"He left an impression on everyone he met and he will be missed," wrote a commenter on Facebook.

The bakery on Grand Street had been run for 43 years by Dom and wife Flo.

Services This Week

Services will be held this Thursday and Friday at Failla-McKnight Funeral Home in Hoboken. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Dominick’s name.
