Former Hoboken Councilman, School Board President Dies

He was a former Hoboken councilman, school board president, as well as a Vietnam vet and Maxwell house supervisor. Services are this week.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Richard England, 82, a prominent figure in Hoboken, passed away on Friday. Services will be held Wednesday and Friday.

While England served as a Hoboken councilman and school board president, he was also known as a former plant supervisor at the Maxwell House Coffee factory, which closed in 1992. He went on to become the city's purchasing agent and business administrator.

He was also a Vietnam veteran and a grandfather of seven.

Visitation will be held Wednesday at Failla-McKnight Memorial Home in Hoboken from 2-7 p.m., with funeral mass at St. Ann's Church in Hoboken Thursday. Find out more about services and read more of the obituary here.
