Hoboken 2024 Election Day: Rent Control, School Board On Ballot

You can vote on the rent control question and for 3 Hoboken Board of Education seats through 8 p.m. Tuesday. Come back to Patch for results.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Besides the presidential election on Nov. 5, Hoboken voters can choose three school board candidates and answer a question about whether they want to make certain changes to Hoboken's longstanding Rent Control Ordinance.

  • Four candidates are running for three school board slots in Hoboken. The Board of Education has nine members in total. Voters can choose any three. See more about them below.
  • For the rent control public question, the landlord/property owner group proposing the laws wants voters to vote "Yes." Tenant advocates and the mayor are urging a "No" vote. Read more about that here.

The following school board candidates are running:

  • Patricia Waiters, under the slogan "Support All Children."
  • Incumbents Malani Cademartori, Ailene McGuirk, and Thomas Kluepfel using the slogan "Building Futures Together."

For Congress, incumbent Rob Menendez Jr., a Democrat, takes on Republican Anthony Valdes and Labor Party candidate Pablo R. Rivera.
