Hoboken Green Fair, With Freebies And Demonstrations, Set For Saturday
Hoboken's annual environmental fair will be held in a park this weekend.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Hoboken's "Green Fair" returns this weekend to help celebrate the environment. Visitors to the free festival can enjoy vendors, demonstrations, and activities.
It takes place Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Church Square Park in central Hoboken.
The city said, "The Hoboken Green Fair aims to introduce sustainable lifestyle choices to the community, raise awareness about environmental issues, and show how consumers can reduce their environmental impact."

The event will focus on eco-friendly products and services, energy and water conservation, and strategies for decreasing reliance on fossil fuels.
Local vendors, nonprofits, and green businesses will offer information, goods, and services that support a more sustainable future, and share their environmentally conscious practices.

“This event is an opportunity for our community to come together and learn how simple changes can lead to a more sustainable lifestyle,” said Mayor Ravi Bhalla. “The Hoboken Green Fair not only showcases businesses and organizations dedicated to environmental responsibility but also empowers residents to take climate action seriously so that we can ensure our city’s greener future for generations to come.”
The Hoboken Green Team, a volunteer-led group, advises the city on sustainability efforts, organize public outreach, and promote eco-friendly practices throughout Hoboken. Those interested in joining can contact Katie Smith, at ksmith@hobokennj.gov.
In April 2019, Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla initiated Hoboken’s Climate Action Plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and combat climate change. Hoboken’s Climate Action Plan calls for Hoboken to become carbon neutral by 2050 and net-zero energy by 2030. Climate Action Plan initiatives have included the expansion of Hoboken’s residential composting drop-off program, the launch of the textile recycling program, energy-efficient upgrades in municipal buildings, the ongoing electrification of the municipal fleet, the community solar program, and more.
