See Who's In Hoboken Mayoral Runoff

Two Hoboken mayoral candidates are heading to a runoff in December.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Hoboken voters will head to the polls again in early December to choose a mayor from the two top vote-getters in the Nov. 4 election.

As of late Tuesday, Councilwoman Emily Jabbour had amassed the most votes, with Councilman Michael Russo in second place and Councilwoman Tiffanie Fisher in third (see the numbers below, as of 11:20 p.m.)

"As we move toward the December 2 runoff, I’m energized and ready to continue the conversation with residents across every neighborhood and earn even more votes than we did today," Jabbour said in a message around midnight.

A total of six candidates tussled in the race, including four existing City Council members.

The elections are non-partisan.

Residents were able to vote for a mayoral candidate as well as any three council-at-large members, plus a successor to the late Jen Giattino for voters in the 6th Ward.

In order to win outright, a candidate would have had to receive more than 50 percent of the votes.

Results So Far

The results as of Tuesday evening, updated at 11:20 p.m.:

  • Dini Ajmani: 2,480
  • Councilwoman Tiffanie Fisher: 3,633
  • Councilwoman Emily Jabbour: 5,122
  • Councilman Ruben Ramos Jr.: 2,851
  • Councilman Michael Russo: 4,561
  • Patricia Waiters: 172
  • Write-In: 113

Background

Hoboken's next mayor will be paid $130,000.

The part-time Hoboken City Council members will earn $35,000 each. The council president and vice president, also part-time, will start at $40,000 and $37,500, plus optional benefits.
