The focus will be the next phase, called Project Resist Structure South.

Councilman Paul Presinzano noted, "This project aims to protect 80 percent of Hoboken from storm surge flooding, but it may require the temporary closure of Jersey Avenue [in Jersey City]. This project will lower the cost of flood insurance many residents are required to have for their buildings."

He and others have been concerned about the closure of Jersey Avenue.

"While this is critical infrastructure work, the community should have been given more advance notice and information on its potential impact," he said. "City officials will provide updates on construction plans and traffic mitigation efforts, and I encourage you to attend."
