Hoboken Teacher Passes Away, Had ‘Brilliant Mind, Kind Heart’

Hoboken Education Association: Joanne Pepe was loved for her easy-going disposition and eagerness to offer a helping hand.

HOBOKEN, NJ — A beloved math teacher with a “brilliant mind and a kind heart to match” has passed away, the Hoboken Education Association (HEA) reported.

On Wednesday, the HEA posted a message of condolence about the passing of Joanne Pepe, who began her career at Hoboken High School in 2004.

According to the HEA, services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10 at St. Francis Church in Hoboken. It will be followed by a funeral mass at noon.

The HEA wrote:

“It is with a heavy heart that we inform you of the passing of our friend and former colleague, Joanne Pepe. Joanne began her teaching career at Hoboken High School in 2004 as a mathematics teacher and then also served as an Instructional Coach. She was loved by her students and colleagues alike for her easy-going disposition and eagerness to offer a helping hand to anyone in need. She had a brilliant mathematical mind and a kind heart to match it. Joanne was a graduate of Montclair State University and New Jersey Institute of Technology and received her Master of Arts degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Caldwell College.”
