Hoboken Youngsters Compete in Open Chess Tournament
More than 40 kids from Hoboken, Jersey City, Bayonne and Weehawken competed in Saturday's tournament.
SchoolPlus Hudson, an academic enrichment program that offers classes in a variety of disciplines from mathematics to music appreciation, held its second Open Chess Tournament over the weekend.
More than 40 kids between the ages of 5 and 12 from Hoboken, Jersey City, Bayonne and Weehawken participated in the three-round Saturday tournament.
The children, who attend chess classes in SchoolPlus Hudson or chess classes provided by SchoolPlus Hudson at Hoboken Catholic, HoLa Charter School, Bayonne JCC, Learning Community Charter School, Our Lady of Czestochowa School and The Hudson School, competed against opponents with similar levels of chess experience.
