Hoboken Educators Combat Misunderstandings About Special Needs Children

A group of special needs professionals are hoping to bridge the gap between people living with disabilities and those without.

A group of local educators and special needs professionals have started an organization to increase the general public’s understanding of autism and developmental disorders.

Hoboken Cares was created in response to the frustration many local parents feel with respect to the community’s treatment of children and the parents of children with special needs.

The organization offers free workshops to educate the parents, teachers, business owners and community leaders on different disabilities, strategies for dealing with individuals with special needs and how businesses can create a special needs-friendly environment, among other topics.
