HOBOKEN, NJ — A popular Italian restaurant in central Hoboken that closed after a small fire on January may reopen in July.
Otto Strada at Eighth Street and Park Avenue placed a sign on its door in January saying it was closed "until further notice."

A public safety spokesperson told Patch that the fire started in the duct work of a pizza oven due to grease buildup.

"The fire, deemed accidental, was contained to the oven and no injuries were reported," the spokesperson said in January.
The building was found to be safe by the Hoboken Construction Officer, and no residential tenants were impacted or displaced, officials said.

An inspection of Otto Strada by the Hoboken Health Division determined the restaurant had to remain closed until repairs are complete and pass re-inspection, the spokesperson said.
In mid-June, workers were seen fixing up the dining area outside the restaurant.
One of them said he expects the restaurant to open in a few weeks.
Patch has reached out to the owners for an update, and will update this story if more information is received.
