LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Parade Committee Happy With St. Patrick's Day
A letter from the The Hoboken St. Patrick's Parade Committee

Dear Editor,
The Hoboken St. Patrick's Parade, held on March 6th, was the 24th annual and BEST parade ever!
The Parade Committee would like to thank our esteemed honorees, Mayor Zimmer, Police Chief Falco, Fire Chief Blohm, the Hoboken Police and Fire Departments, Councilman Nino Giacchi and the Hoboken City Council, the Public Works Department and the Sanitation Department for all of their efforts in ensuring a successful, safe, family-friendly and fun event for the residents of our city and the thousands of visitors we hosted.

The cooperation and leadership exhibited by Mayor Zimmer, Chief Falco, Chief Blohm, the City Council, and the Quality of life Committee were instrumental in making this parade a "blueprint" for future parades and festivals in our city. The Police and Fire Departments were out in full force, helping to curb some of the excesses that were experienced in past years.
The difference was dramatic and sent a clear message that this parade is about honoring those who have made significant charitable and cultural contributions to our fair city.

The Parade Committee would like to thank all of our honorees, including Bernadette Cunning Pehrson, our Grand Marshal; Carol Ann Wilson, our Irish Woman of the Year; Dr. John Crowe, our Irish Man of the Year; Patricia Scribner, our Community Service Award Winner; Nicholas Burke, our Irish Police Officer of the Year; and Brian Greene, our Irish Firefighter of the Year. These individuals have contributed much to improving the quality of life in our community.
We look forward to working with Mayor Zimmer and her team to plan another successful St. Patrick's Parade for 2011. May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face. And 'till we meet again, may God hold you in the hollow of his hand.
Slainte!
Sincerely,
The Hoboken St. Patrick's Parade Committee
