Bergen County Man Struck Pedestrian In Hudson County, Left Scene, Prosecutors Say

A Bergen County man has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident that seriously injured a pedestrian in Hudson County.

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — A Lyndhurst man has been charged in a hit-and-run that left a Hudson County man with serious injuries, prosecutors said.

Miroslaw Masiak, 77, has been charged with knowingly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle collision resulting in serious bodily injury, and other charges, said the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office.

Prosecutors said that shortly before 5 a.m. on June 4, the North Bergen Police Department was notified of a pedestrian struck in the area of 2600 Tonnelle Avenue in North Bergen.

Police found a 42-year-old Union City resident with serious injuries. He was taken to Jersey City Medical Center.

The vehicle left the scene, although police found it later, prosecutors said.

Masiak was also charged with endangering an injured victim and obstruction the administration of law.

He was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Secaucus and released to await his first court appearance, tentatively scheduled for July 17, prosecutors said.
