Man's Body Found on Hoboken Waterfront: New Details Released

The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office released new details of a person found dead near the Hoboken waterfront.

HOBOKEN, NJ — The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office gave a few new details Monday after a man's body was pulled out of the Hudson River in Hoboken Sunday.

Prosecutors said that at approximately 2:15 p.m., the Hoboken Police Department was notified that a body was found in the Hudson River near Pier C Park.

Police found the remains of an adult male, prosecutors said, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Prosecutors said that the man's identity has not yet been confirmed by the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

"A post-mortem examamination is scheduled for later this week, which is anticipated to determine the male’s identity, as well as the cause and manner of death," said a spokesperson. "Additional information will be made available when the Homicide Unit receives updates from the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office."

Police announced Sunday after 3 p.m. that they had closed one Hoboken park on the central waterfront, Pier C Park, and had closed part of Sinatra Park to the north.

The parks were reopened later on Sunday.

"There is NO danger to the public, but please avoid the area," police said at the time.
