Through the 1990s, Hoboken's hipsters and young families flocked to Park Pastries in the center of town, a place to chat and enjoy their famous fruit stollen, which was even the topic of a New York Times story by former resident Andy Newman.
Chef Stephen El Hassan of OBagel announced in a YouTube video in April, "We just signed the lease for Mile Square Café—our next big venture in Hoboken. This is Day 1 of building something special."

"My father opened O'Bagel when I was five years old," added "Chef Steve El," noting that he became "infatuated" with the bagel business by watching his father work.
He and his partners said they hoped to launch a brunch cafe in "the best place in the world."
