Person With Measles Took Hoboken-Bound Train: State Of NJ

The state of New Jersey is alerting people to watch for measles symptoms after an infected person took a train toward Hoboken.

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — A Hudson County resident infected with measles took the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail and PATH trains through North Jersey last week, state health officials said Friday.

Among the routes was the Hoboken-bound light rail line, which started at Eighth Street in Bayonne, the state said.

The state has been announcing such cases so that the public can get treated early, as the number of people getting vaccinated against the once-eradicated virus has declined. Two children and an adult died during an outbreak of the virus in Texas this year.

The state of New Jersey said late Friday that the person has been in close contact with a non-New Jersey resident who had the virus.

The state noted, "NJDOH recommends that anyone who traveled on the following routes, only during the specified dates and times, may have been exposed to measles."
