Popular Hoboken Musicians Converge In Free Concert This Week
See local favorite musicians as a former Hoboken cultural affairs director presents a free waterfront concert this week.
HOBOKEN, NJ — Several musical acts that are well known around the Hoboken area will perform on the waterfront in a free concert on Thursday.
Former Hoboken Cultural Affairs Director Geri Fallo and the city are presenting the special concert with performances by Freedy Johnston and Karyn Kuhl & the Gang, at Sinatra Park on the central waterfront, 525 Sinatra Drive.

Freedy Johnson. "will be playing with an incredible band featuring Paul Moschella (drums), Jared Michael Nickerson (bass), and Dave Schramm (guitar)," organizers say.
Karyn Kuhl and the Gang features Karyn Kuhl, her long-time rhythm section of drummer Jonpaul Pantozzi and bassist Lou Ciarlo, guitarist/producer Charlie Nieland (Debbie Harry, Rufus Wainright) and Billy Loos on percussion.

The emcee will be Hoboken's own witty entertainer, writer, and reader Jack Silbert.

Freedy Johnston’s sophomore album, Can You Fly, which was described upon its 1992 release as “a perfect album” by The
Village Voice, will be available again for the first time in 25 years. It has been remastered for CD and vinyl. People Magazine described it as, “an extraordinary second album, one of the most tuneful, propulsive and penetrating of this or any year.” It will be available for sale at the concert.
Karyn Kuhl first received national acclaim for her early bands Gut Bank and Sexpod, growing out of the vibrant Hoboken music scene and the legendary club Maxwell's. These days, she performs both as a solo act and as the lead for Karyn Kuhl & The Gang. Kuhl is currently in the studio with a new single to be released in the fall.
