Python Found Behind Jersey City Refrigerator; Now Humane Society Seeks 'Banana's' Owner
A person "panicked" upon finding a python in their Jersey City high-rise. Liberty Humane Society is seeking its owner, or someone to adopt.

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — Pssssssssst....did you lose a yellow snake near the Jersey City waterfront, by any chance?
After someone came upon a yellow python behind their refrigerator in their Jersey City high-rise apartment on Monday, they panicked, the Liberty Humane Society said this week. Now the agency is looking for the yellow snake's owner — or for someone to adopt it.
The snake is probably someone's pet, said the LHS, noting that it was found on a 29th floor apartment in the city's Newport section, a residential area along the Hudson River and close to the Newport Mall.

" 'Banana,' this beautiful piebald ball python morph, is not a threat, but we guess to some people a surprise snake can seem like an emergency!" said the LHS on Monday. " 'Banana' came to LHS today after a resident found them behind their refrigerator, panicked, and someone called JCPD."
They added, "This is a socialized, domestic snake and is likely someone’s escaped pet. Please contact the shelter if you have any information about where 'Banana' belongs. If you’re interested in rescue placement or adoption please submit an application on our website — 'Banana' will be available for adoption following their 7 day stray hold."
