Retired Hoboken Firefighter, Elks Member Dies: ‘Gus’ Koschig
A longtime community member, retired firefighter and Hoboken Elks Club member passed away: August Koschig.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Hoboken bid farewell to a longtime community member, retired firefighter and local Elks Club member on Saturday: August “Gus” Koschig.
The Hoboken Fire Department announced Koschig’s passing on Saturday:
“Today we honor the memory of HFD firefighter Gus Koschig, who passed away this evening at HUMC. Gus was a Vietnam veteran, retired firefighter, and a good friend to us all.”
The Hoboken Elks Club wrote:

“It is with a heavy heart that I'm sorry to tell everyone Gus Koschig passed away yesterday. Gus was a retired Hoboken firefighter and a member of Hoboken Elks Lodge #74. Service for our beloved brother will be Tuesday, July 3 at Failla' s 2 to 8 p.m.”
Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla wrote:
“Had the honor to marry Gus last week at HUMC to the love of his life. Although he knew his days were few, he remained in high spirits. RIP & God bless.”
