Stevens Cooperative School Teacher Pleads Guilty to Child Porn Charges

A permanent substitute teacher at Stevens Cooperative School faces up to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty in federal court Thursday to distributing pornographic images and videos of children, the Jersey Journal reported.

Guy West, 45, who had taught for the past 15 years at the private school that has campuses in Hoboken and Jersey City, supervised children ages 2 to 14 while at Stevens, according to the criminal complaint. It is not believed that any students at the school were victimized by West, the Jersey Journal reported.

West, a Jersey City resident, was arrested in early January after undercover agents downloaded more than 100 images and videos of child sex abuse that he made available over a peer-to-peer file sharing network. 

The Jersey Journal reported that he admitted having more than 100,000 pornographic images and videos of young boys on his computer, which he forfeited as part of his guilty plea.

West, who is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 4, faces a prison sentence of between five and 20 year, and a fine of $250,000.
