No Water Service Saturday On Hoboken Street Due To Main Work

HOBOKEN, NJ — One street in the center of Hoboken will be without water on Saturday while the local water company conducts infrastructure repairs, the water company confirmed Thursday.

Notices placed around the 500 block of Garden Street this week said the area could be without water from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The block, located north of Church Square Park, contains mainly rowhomes but also has several businesses.

A spokesperson for Veolia Water confirmed the outage, teling Patch it will be confined to just one block.

"Due to planned infrastructure repairs, there will be a temporary water service interruption on Garden Street," said spokesperson Chris Halleron. "Repairs were scheduled for this time by city officials in order to mitigate concerns with the nearby school."

He noted, "Residents and businesses have been notified of the impending service interruption, and crews will be working diligently to complete the repair as swiftly as possible."

The aging infrastructure in and around the mile-square city has led to several water main breaks in the last few years.
