Two Sustain Minor Injuries in Small Fire at Uptown Establishment

Two workers in the kitchen of a restaurant sustained minor injuries on Sunday.

An 18-year-old employee at Lola's in Uptown Hoboken on Sunday sustained burns on his right hand and right arm after a small working fire, police said. 

The fire was likely caused by oil in the deep fryer that had heated up and then exploded, according to the police report. 

The Hoboken Fire Department arrived at the scene and put out the fire, police said. Another employee was having trouble breathing, police said.

According to the police report on the matter, the injuries were not life threatening. The two employees were taken to the Hoboken University Medical Center.  

Some minor water damage and damage to the kitchen ceiling occurred. The fire was put out before the police arrived.
