HOBOKEN, NJ — A Hoboken resident who was vacationing in Panama with friends was prevented from getting on a plane last week because she tested positive for coronavirus, even though she was vaccinated, News 12 reported Sunday. But she believed the result was a false positive, as no one else in her group tested positive. And now she has gotten some better news.

News 12 reported a followup on Wednesday that the woman's PCR test was negative, and she can now head home. A PCR test identifies the genetic material of the virus.

Since the vaccine is 95 percent effective against the virus, vaccinated people may still get the virus — but the vaccine has reduced the chance of hospitalization and death, medical professionals say.
