HOBOKEN, NJ — After all of the free tickets to the inauguration of Mayor-Elect Emily Jabbour were claimed within 24 hours last week, the city has set up a public "watch party" and a livestream for the event.

Jabbour will take the oath to become the city's 40th mayor at 1 p.m. Thursday at the 450-seat DeBaun auditorium. The facility is part of the Stevens Institute of Technology.

An Inauguration Watch Party was announced late on Monday for the same time, to be held in the basement of the Hoboken Public Library on Thursday. All community members are welcome to attend, the city said.

Besides Jabbour, three council members will take the oath, two of whom are new.

Incumbent Councilman Joe Quintero was re-elected on Jabbour's slate in November. New council members Steve Firestone and Caitlin Layson, who also ran on Jabbour's ticket, will be sworn in.

Jabbour got the highest vote count in the Hoboken Nov. 4 non-partisan mayoral election. She then entered a runoff with Councilman Michael Russo on Dec. 2 and emerged victorious.

She has served on the council for two terms, originally running with outgoing Mayor Ravi Bhalla, who takes the oath to become an assemblyman this week.
