Police said JCP&L and Verizon crews were expected to work into Friday night to make repairs.
HAZLET, NJ — Work on a downed utility pole on Middle Road was expected to continue through Friday evening, police said, advising motorists to follow detours.
The pole and wires were down on Middle Road between Poole Avenue and Bromley Drive.
Crews from JCP&L and Verizon were working Friday to get the poles up, lines attached, power restored, and the road open, police said in a social media post.

A detour was set up on Middle Road to make the left turn onto Fleetwood Drive to get to Highway 35, police said, in the hopes of reducing some of the traffic going through the Bromley Drive neighborhood. Fleetwood Drive is a 25 MPH zone, so police reminded motorists to drive accordingly.
They said if motorists need to get to Highway 36, Union Avenue is the most direct route.
Highway 35 and Highway 36 are alternatives because they run basically parallel to Middle Road, police said.
