Holmdel Still On The Lookout For Family Dog After House Fire
A fire on Holland Road in Holmdel Friday destroyed the house, but the family escaped. Their dog, cats are still missing.

HOLMDEL, NJ — A German shepherd who went missing after his owners' home was destroyed in a fire Friday is apparently still not found.
No family members were injured in the fire Friday, Feb. 3, at 214 Holland Road. The family was identified as the Rubin family in a GoFundMe site up to help the family of seven.
More than 500 donations have come in, raising nearly $45,000, according to the site. Donors are expressing their support for the family, too, and their hopes that they can find their dog, Duke.

Police received reports Saturday morning of possible sightings of the dog in the area of Mayfair Road/Telegraph Hill Road, according to a Facebook post. Residents are asked to report any sightings to police at 732-946-4400.
All family members were able to get out of the home unscathed, police said. Property records cite the owners as Joshua and Zdena Rubin.
Police said patrols arrived on scene within minutes of the call at 4:40 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, and found several of the residents of 214 Holland Road safe on the front lawn. The rear of the home was fully engulfed, police said.
Meanwhile a GoFundMe site has been set up to assist the family by a twin sister of Mrs. Rubin, Irena Nemcova of Holmdel.
Here is the post:
"On Friday, 2/3/23, my twin sister and husband with a family of seven lost everything in a devastating house fire. They have five children with ages ranging from 5 to 14 and have been completely displaced from their home. There is absolutely nothing salvageable from the house. My sister was able to get all the kids out safely but they are still missing their beloved 1-year-old German shepherd Duke and the cats.
"We are seeking to raise emergency relief funds to help the family get back on their feet. Thanks in advance to our neighborhood community, and family and friends for your generosity."
