Gun Safety Studio, Helmed By Former Hazlet Cop, Opens At Airport Plaza

HAZLET, NJ - If you’re looking for safety training before wielding or purchasing a gun, look no further.

Duncan Defense Consultants, a full-service gun safety studio and firearms retailer, opened its doors last week with a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Hazlet police, Mayor Mike Sachs and Committeeman Jim Cavuto.

Located in Airport Plaza and helmed by retired Hazlet Police Lieutenant Michael Duncan and his wife, Duncan Defense Consultants offers private gun safety workshops such as home defense, range instruction, law enforcement prep and concealed carry classes.

“Mike has vast experience in instructing people on the safe and proficient handling of firearms and as far as we are concerned, there’s no one that does it better,” Hazlet police said in a statement. “Whether you’re an experienced marksman or a first time gun owner check out Duncan Defense for all of your gun, ammo and instructional needs.”

The business, situated at a site left vacant for years on Route 36, features a showroom of pistols, rifles and more. The Route 36 storefront also offers free safety classes to any school security officer who wants enhanced training using its advanced training simulator.

“Instructors who want to donate their time to make our kids safe in school,” the business said in a statement via social media. “If you are a school security officer or know somebody who is, please contact us.”
