Hazlet Man Charged with Multiple Burglaries Throughout Township
A 33-year-old Hazlet resident has been arrested and charged in connection with five burglaries that occurred in September throughout Hazlet.

A Hazlet man was arrested late last month on charges of multiple burglaries throughout Hazlet, the police department has reported.
On September 30, Hazlet Township Police were notified by off duty Toms River Police Officer Matthew Broderick that he had observed a white male subject coming out of a backyard of a residence on Holly Avenue. Based on the description provided, patrols located the suspect on Highway 36 near Davern Avenue.
The subject was identified as Jon Prevost, age 33, of Stern Avenue in Hazlet. A check revealed active warrants for the subject from Middletown and Willingboro. The subject was arrested based on the active warrants by Ptl. Dane Frattalone.

While patrols were still on the scene with the Prevost, a report of a burglary was made from a residence on Davern Avenue. Responding officers Lt. David Cohen and Ptl. Joseph Forgione found that forced entry had been made to the residence.
An investigation of the burglary, handled by Detectives William Agar, Jerry Burgos, and Jerry Laurino, determined that Prevost had burglarized the residence on Davern Avenue, along with an attempted entry to a residence on Holly Avenue, according to Hazlet Police Chief James Broderick.

Further investigation by detectives determined that Prevost was responsible for three other burglaries in Hazlet Township within the previous two weeks. Prevost was charged with five counts of Burglary, in addition to Theft and Criminal Mischief charges. He was transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending bail set at $22,500.00.
An arrest is not a conviction, and every defendant is presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt at trial.
