NJ Teen Quarterback Airlifted To Hospital Following Game Day Injury
A Jersey Shore school is seeking prayers from the community after a student athlete was seriously injured during a football game Friday.
HOLMDEL, NJ – A Jersey Shore Catholic school is seeking prayers from the community after a senior quarterback was seriously injured during a Friday night game.
St. John Vianney High School student-athlete Aaron Van Trease was airlifted to the hospital after being injured during the first quarter of a game against Manasquan.
SJV head coach Jeff Papcun said that Van Trease had no feeling in his lower body when he was removed from the field via stretcher, per TAPinto Holmdel & Colts Neck. SJV later won the game 32-0.

Van Trease reportedly underwent surgery for a neck injury in New Brunswick, PIX11 reported.
On Monday morning WFAN radio personality Jerry Recco referenced the incident on the air, noting that Van Trease was a friend of his son and that he was recovering from a seven-hour surgery.

"Parents are asking for prayers and privacy at this time, as he recovers," school principal Margaret Kane said in a statement to the media.
Friday night also saw serious injuries for Marlboro quarterback AJ Schwartz, who suffered knee and leg injuries against Howell, per the Asbury Park Press. Schwartz was later taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.
