A 60-year-old woman was killed in Hazlet on Saturday after failing to observe traffic signals, authorities have reported.

The accident happened around 6:30 a.m., after Middletown resident Rose Imbrenda, 60, traveled south on Main Street in Keansburg, and then failed to observe and stop for a red traffic signal at the intersection with Route 36 in Hazlet, according to authorities.

Imbrenda, who was driving a 2003 Chevy Malibu, entered the intersection and was then struck by a 2006 Nissan Frontier pickup truck heading east under a green light signal on Route 36, driven by a 51-year-old man from Flemington. Upon colliding, both vehicles entered a rotational spin, at which time a Cadillac CTS, driven by a 28-year-old male from Clark crashed into the truck from behind.
