Preserving Our Pillars: Why Holmdel’s Future Depends on Our Shared Values

Holmdel's new mayor outlines vision for upcoming year.

Standing before the Township Committee last night, I felt a sense of gratitude as they once again placed their trust in me to serve as the Mayor of Holmdel for 2026. While the title is an extraordinary honor, the true weight of this role caused me to reflect on another recent event that carried deep meaning for me.

I recently attended my 30th reunion for the Holmdel High School Class of 1995. Nearly one hundred of my former classmates traveled from across the country to reconnect. As we shared stories of where life has taken us, I was struck by a singular realization: no matter how far we wander or what careers we pursue, Holmdel remains our home. It is more than a coordinate on a map; it is the soil where we raise our families, the foundation of our dreams, and the keeper of the values we hold most dear.

Nearly two years ago, I outlined a vision for our town built on six cultural pillars: Open Space, Public Safety, Recreation, Fiscal Responsibility, Education, and Innovation. As I look toward the year ahead, these are not just abstract concepts—they are the bedrock principles that will guide every decision we make.

A Commitment to Our Landscape and Legacy

Our commitment to preserving Holmdel’s character begins with the land itself. We will continue to act with renewed vigilance and aggression to protect our open spaces. We have already seen the impact of this dedication with the preservation of Potters Farm and the historic Horn Antenna site. These aren't just property acquisitions; they are promises kept to future generations that Holmdel will remain a green haven.

Investing in the Next Generation

Education is the heartbeat of this community. Following the path blazed by former Mayor Lucarelli and my predecessor, Mayor Foster, this governing body remains the first in Holmdel’s history to commit to a meaningful, partnership with our schools. We will continue to provide this vital support, balancing the needs of our students with the realities of our own municipal budget.

Security and Service

Our sustained focus on public safety is non-negotiable. We will continue to back our police, fire, and emergency medical teams without hesitation. In Holmdel, we understand a simple truth: their safety is our safety.

Furthermore, we owe a debt of gratitude to those who built this town. We will find new, innovative ways to support our seniors, ensuring that those who have given so much to Holmdel can continue to enjoy the community they helped shape.

The "Why" That Unites Us

This work isn't about the five of us sitting on the Town Hall dais. It is about us as a collective. In an era where division seems to be the default setting of modern life, Holmdel can and should be the exception.

When we set aside partisan politics and special interests to focus laser-sharp on what is best for our neighbors, we all win. It isn't always easy to navigate the fiscal challenges or the complexities of growth, but the formula is simple: when we adhere to our core values, we secure a prosperous future.

As we move into 2026, I invite you to remember the why behind your love for this town. That shared purpose is what strengthens us. Together, we will strive to do more and be better—for our families, for our history, and for our home.
