1 Dead, 3 Rescued In Sparta House Fire: Report
The blaze broke out shortly before 8:30 on Thursday morning and several fire companies responded to put it out, police said.
SPARTA, NJ — Officials said one person is dead after a house fire in Sparta on Thursday morning, and several other people were able to escape the residence.
Police and firefighters were called to a home on Sawmill Road at around 8:24 a.m., according to a report in the New Jersey Herald. First responders were able to get three people out of the home, the report said.
Officers were told one other person was still in the home, but emergency crews were unable to get to them due to the heavy smoke and flames. The unidentified person's body was discovered inside the residence after the fire was extinguished, according to the NJ Herald report.

Firefighters from Ogdensburg, Andover and Jefferson all assisted the Sparta Fire Department at the scene, officials said.
