2 Motorcyclists Killed In Separate, Similar Crashes In This NJ County

The pair crashed within 13 hours of each other, under similar circumstances, in the same county.

SUSSEX COUNTY, NJ — Two motorcyclists were killed in separate motorcycle crashes in Sussex County less than 24 hours apart, according to state police.

On Saturday, just before 7 p.m., police responded to a report of a crash on State Highway 23 South in Montague Township near milepost 49.

Officers found that Clayton Woodley, 20, from Milford, Pennsylvania, had crashed his Yamaha motorcycle.

A preliminary investigation showed that Woodley’s bike had veered to the right side of the road, striking a rock. The Yamaha overturned as a result, and Woodley sustained fatal injuries, police said.

Less than 13 hours later, around 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, police were called out to Sharp Road in Frankford Township on a report of another crash.

Officers found that James Harrell, 37, of Lafayette, was driving his Husqvarna motorcycle west on Sharp Road when his bike also veered to the right, hitting a rock embankment.

Harrell was thrown from his motorcycle and did not survive his injuries.

Both crashes are under investigation, and no further information is available at this time, police said.
