County Expands List of Allowable Items for Recycling

The Municipal Utilities Authority for Sussex now permits recycling of a wider range of plastics.

The Sussex County Municipal Utilities Authority has announced that an expansion of the list of items residents and businesses may recycle.

From now on, the authority said, chipboard—food, tissue, & other gray or white paperboard—can be included with cardboard. No wax-coated boxes such as juice boxes are permitted.

Additionally, all rinsed plastic containers with codes between 1 (PET) and 7 (OTHER) can be included with other allowed plastic containers. Plastic toys may not be recycled. Yet.
