DWI Sparta Man Crashes into Boats at Lake Mohawk Marina: Police

The impact pushed the boats into the front wall of the marina, causing damage, Sgt. Dennis Proctor said.

SPARTA, N.J.– A 23-year-old township man was arrested for DWI early Saturday morning after striking two boats in front of Lake Mohawk Marina, authorities said.

The driver, Sean T. Hurley, told Officer Arlene Lippencott that he lost control of his 2002 Pontiac while reaching for his cell phone, Proctor said.

Lippencott came to the opinion that Hurley was under the influence and the latter failed subsequent field sobriety tests, according to the sergeant.

Hurley was charged with DWI, careless driving and failure to maintain lane, Proctor said.
