Girl Scouts In Hopatcong, Sparta Sell 1,000+ Cookie Boxes Each
The girls, ranging in age from second to fifth grade, were honored by the Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey.

HOPATCONG-SPARTA, NJ — Four Hopatcong Girl Scouts and one Sparta Girl Scout were among 14 girls recognized by the Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey for selling 1,000 or more boxes of cookies during the 2021 Girl Scout Cookie Program.
The five Hopatcong-Sparta girls were honored alongside others at a ceremony on Aug. 4 alongside Betty Garger, president and CEO of GSNNJ. The honorees are brownies, meaning they are in second or third grade, or juniors, meaning they are fourth or fifth graders.

- Gianna Colicchio, of Hopatcong, a junior: 1,000 cookie boxes.
- Tara Turner, of Sparta, a junior: 1,033 cookie boxes.
- Kylie Ovalles, of Hopatcong, a junior: 1,122 cookie boxes.
- Kayla O'Brien, of Hopatcong, a brownie: 1,162 cookie boxes.
- Aubrey Wester, of Hopatcong, a brownie: 2,104 cookie boxes.
The Girl Scout Cookie Program is the largest girl-led entrepreneurial program in the world, according to GSNNJ. Program participants learn goal-setting, decision-making, money management, people skills and business ethics.
"Despite reports of a national cookie surplus, GSNNJ did not face any surplus this season thanks to members’ innovative selling techniques, new e-commerce offerings, and an online cookie donation program," GSNNJ said in the news release.
