Lafayette Post Office Closing Temporarily
The post office is looking to resume operations in the future, but no timeline is set.

LAFAYETTE, NJ — The Lafayette Post Office is indefinitely suspending operations, as postal officials look for a permanent solution to aging infrastructure.
The post office, located at 96 State Route 15, will close at the end of business on Friday, Aug. 16. After that date, P.O. box mail will be sent to the Augusta Post Office, 33 U.S. Highway 206, for pick-up.
The closure will not affect rural mail delivery to customers. Anyone who gets an attempted delivery notice can either call for a re-delivery, or pick up the package at Augusta.

Officials blame the temporary closure on the "aging condition" of the current Lafayette building, which is a lease.
"While no timetable has been set, postal officials are exploring all options for a permanent solution for the continuation of service in Lafayette. A community meeting will be held at a later date to discuss the options," officials said.
