Man Traveling Too Slowly On Route 15 Sparks Sparta Police Stop, Now Faces Multiple Charges
The driver was charged with DWI and one of his passengers for possession of cocaine.
SPARTA, NJ — After three men were stopped in Sparta, two now face multiple charges, when they were pulled over for driving very sluggishly on Route 15.
The responding officer stopped Nestor Rojas-Camarillo’s van, according to a news release from the Sparta Township Police Department, as Roja-Camarillo of Parsippany was driving slowly on Route 15 South’s left lane at about 3 a.m. on Sept. 19.
Sparta Police Officer Brian Porter noticed Rojas-Camarillo, 45, not staying within his lane and stopped his van, Lt. John Lamon, a spokesperson for the department, reported.

Lamon said as Porter walked up to Rojas-Camarillo’s van, he noticed open cans of beer inside of it and performed sobriety tests.
After Porter asked Rojas-Camarillo and the two men traveling with him to get out of the van, Porter noticed a small bag containing what appeared to be cocaine on the back seat, Lamon stated. Porter also searched the van and then found a second bag.

Faustino Rodriguez-Gutierez, 30, of Dover, one of the passengers, admitted to Porter that those two bags were his, Lamon said.
The police department did not identify the third passenger or if any charges were filed against him.
Both Rojas-Camarillo and Rodriguez-Gutierez are awaiting court appearances for their charges, Lamon wrote, with Rojas-Camarillo facing DWI, consumption, open alcohol, failure to maintain lane, obstructing other vehicles and careless driving; and Rodriguez-Gutierez with possession of cocaine.
