2 Dead In Plane Crash By Sussex County’s Kemah Lake
The New Jersey State Police, who found the plane, say two people have died. The FAA sent out an alert at 3 p.m. that the plane was missing.

SUSSEX COUNTY, NJ — Two people are confirmed dead after the single-engine plane they left in from Essex County Airport, crashed by Kemah Lake, New Jersey State Police confirmed.
Trooper Charles Marchan, a spokesperson for the State Police, said Thursday evening that troopers arrived to the scene of the crash in Hampton Township at about 2:5o p.m., where there were "two confirmed fatalities."

Marchan didn't provide further information about the people who died, who were reportedly headed for Sussex Airport, referring inquiries back to the Federal Aviation Administration.

A spokesperson for the FAA told Patch that at about 3 p.m. on Thursday, the FAA sent out an alert that sometime after leaving the airport in Caldwell, the Cessna 172 went missing. State Police reported to the FAA at about 4 p.m., they had found the plane in “a wooded area of a state park near Lake Kemah,” an FAA representative said.
The National Transportation Safety Board that handles investigations, along with the FAA, will provide updates, the FAA stated.
