Quad Driver Took Sparta Police On Multi-Town High Speed Chase: PD

Police say the quad driver took police through several towns in two states after allegedly stealing the quad.

SPARTA, NJ — Police say a man taking a quad for a test drive in Sparta stole the quad and lead police on a high-speed chase spanning several towns across two states in November.

Christian Yeadon, 22, of Bloomingburg, New York, and Steven Hasbrouck, 23, of Middletown, New York, went to a Sparta home to test drive a quad that was for sale on Craigslist in mid-November, police say. Hasbrouck test drove the quad while Yeadon stayed in the car, police say.

After Hasbrouck failed to return from the test drive, the owner of the quad reported it stolen, police say, and it was at this time the owner realized Yeadon has driven away as well.

Police say the stolen quad was seen driving down Glen Road at high speeds, continuing into Route 517. Hasbrouck is accused of driving the quad into Franklin, Hamburg, and then into Greenville, New York.

Hasbrouck was arrested during a traffic stop on Dec. 23 in New York, and police say they found the stolen quad and two stolen motorcycles in his car. He was taken to the Sussex County Jail on Dec. 28.

Yeadon was arrested on Jan. 10, and was extradited to the Sussex County Jail the next week. Both men are in jail awaiting a court appearance, police said.

Yeadon was charged with conspiracy to commit theft, police said. Hasbrouck was charged with conspiracy to commit theft, theft of moveable property and eluding. He also faces motor vehicle summonses in each town he drove the quad through, police said, calling them "too many offenses to list."
