Sparta Fire Department Celebrates New Officers For 2021
A new lineup for the new year is ready for the department, which handles more than 500 calls annually.
SPARTA, NJ - A new year means a new chief and line officers for the Sparta Township Fire Department.
The lineup for 2021 for the department, which handles more than 500 calls annually, is as follows:
- Chief: Justin Muldoon
- Deputy Chief: Anthony Riehl
- Captain: Chris Angelucci
- Senior Lieutenant: Tom McIntyre Jr
- Lieutenant: Matt Rider
- Lieutenant: Ryan Odom
- Lieutenant: Will Krajicek
- Lieutenant: Ed Seugling Jr
The Sparta Township Fire Department was organized in 1923 and incorporated in 1925. There are nine pieces of equipment ranging from the chief's vehicle, various fire engines, a rescue truck and a ladder truck.

The department operates out of three locations:
- Headquarters on Woodport Road
- "Sparta Lake," on Glen Road
- "The Ridge," on Stanhope Road
The department has over 50 active volunteer members but is always looking for more. Those interested can call (973) 729-5080 or stop by Fire Headquarters on Thursday nights at 7:30 p.m. for more information.
