Sparta Fire Department Celebrates New Officers For 2021

A new lineup for the new year is ready for the department, which handles more than 500 calls annually.

SPARTA, NJ - A new year means a new chief and line officers for the Sparta Township Fire Department.

The lineup for 2021 for the department, which handles more than 500 calls annually, is as follows:

  • Chief: Justin Muldoon
  • Deputy Chief: Anthony Riehl
  • Captain: Chris Angelucci
  • Senior Lieutenant: Tom McIntyre Jr
  • Lieutenant: Matt Rider
  • Lieutenant: Ryan Odom
  • Lieutenant: Will Krajicek
  • Lieutenant: Ed Seugling Jr

The Sparta Township Fire Department was organized in 1923 and incorporated in 1925. There are nine pieces of equipment ranging from the chief's vehicle, various fire engines, a rescue truck and a ladder truck.

The department operates out of three locations:

  • Headquarters on Woodport Road
  • "Sparta Lake," on Glen Road
  • "The Ridge," on Stanhope Road

The department has over 50 active volunteer members but is always looking for more. Those interested can call (973) 729-5080 or stop by Fire Headquarters on Thursday nights at 7:30 p.m. for more information.
