Special Election Running Smoothly So Far, Says Sparta Clerk
Mary Coe said some showed up to vote a day early, being unaccustomed to having an election on a Wednesday.

Voting is underway in the New Jersey special election to choose a new U.S. senator. In Sparta, things are going well, according to Township Clerk Mary Coe.
"Voter turnout appears to be steady" so far, she told Patch, noting that they expect more activity evening.
Coe said there have been "no problems so far" with voting machines, but that doesn't mean that there were no problems overall.
"Some people went to the polling locations [Tuesday] because they were confused by the election being held on a Wednesday," said the clerk.
Coe reminds voters that the normal polling locations are the places to cast a ballot for either Democrat Cory Booker or Republican Steve Lonegan. Polls close at 8 p.m.
