Woman Hit Sparta Cop In Police Station, Police Say

Police say the woman was fighting with a family member when the alleged incident happened.

SPARTA, NJ — A woman is accused of hitting a Sparta police officer inside Sparta police headquarters Friday afternoon, police said.

Lauren Watson, 42, was in police headquarters exchanging property with a family member around 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 1 when an argument broke out, police said. Officers tried to seperate the family members, but police say Watson ignored their instructions to calm down.

While trying to get to her relative, Watson is accused of hitting an officer's arm, police said. Watson was arrested and charged with aggravated assault on a police officer and being a disorderly person. She was released with an upcoming court date.
