130 'Leggio For Mayor' Signs Stolen In Howell

Howell police are seeking the public's help in identifying the vehicle and the people involved.

HOWELL, NJ — Howell Township police are seeking the public's help in identifying a car and the people involved after 130 "Leggio For Mayor" signs were stolen and thrown in a dumpster.

The signs were stolen from various locations on or about April 23 and tossed in the dumpsters behind the Ramtown Plaza, police said.

"Your help is crucial in resolving this matter and maintaining the integrity of our community's political processes," police said.

John Leggio is one of three people seeking the Republican nomination for the mayoral race on the November general election ballot. Also seeking the Republican nod in the June 4 primary are Ian Nadel, the current deputy mayor, and Councilman Fred Gasior.

Democrat Matthew Filosa also filed a petition for mayor. He is unchallenged in the Democratic primary.

Theresa Berger, the current mayor, is not seeking re-election.

Police described the car involved as a Toyota Camry, model year from 2018 to 2023.

Howell police posted video from one site where the signs were stolen. It shows a person run up and grab a sign, then run back to the passenger side, throw the sign in the car and get in before the car drives off.
