2 Families Displaced, Puppy Dies In Jackson House Fire

An 11-week-old puppy did not survive a two-alarm residential fire in Jackson on Friday, according to a fundraiser for one affected family.

JACKSON, NJ - A two-alarm residential fire in Jackson Township displaced six individuals from two families Friday evening, the New Jersey Red Cross said in a statement.

Volunteers from the Tinton Falls branch of the organization provided temporary lodging, food and clothing needs for the families on Renee Court.

Two GoFundMe online fundraisers have since been set up for the affected families, including one whose dog died in the blaze.

“The Diaz family lost everything yesterday due to a house fire … sadly their 11 week old puppy did not survive the fire,” one fundraiser information page reads. “They lost memories, irreplaceable items, and so much more. They have been through so much this past month.Let’s help them out while they get back on their feet and figure out the next steps.”

According to another fundraiser for the Klein family, the Diaz’s home caught fire initially and “quickly spread over, damaging much of the house.”

“Many irreplaceable items were lost and we don’t know at the moment what’s next. Help this family stay on their feet and build back up,” the second fundraiser page reads.

A request for comment from the Jackson Fire Department was not immediately returned.
