7 Seek Howell School Board Seats; 2 Run For Freehold Regional Seats

Three seats are up for election on the Howell Township school board.

HOWELL, NJ — Seven people have filed petitions seeking election to the Howell Township Board of Education in November.

The list of unofficial school board candidates was released Tuesday by the Monmouth County Clerk's Office.

Three seats are up for election on the Howell board, which oversees the kindergarten-through-eighth grade district. The terms are three years.

Incumbents Stephen Levine and Jennifer Okerson are seeking re-election. Also seeking election are Suzanne Gabriel, Matthew I. Withers, and Frank D. Maletto Jr., who do not have slogans; Sara Moran, who is running under the slogan "Fiscally Responsible Parent," and Margaret "Maggie" Lazur, who is running under the "A Fresh Voice" slogan.

MaryRose Malley, whose term on the board expires Dec. 31, is not seeking re-election.

There is a full term representing Howell on the Freehold Regional High School District's Board of Education up for election. Incumbent Peter J. Bruno, running under the slogan "Our Students First," is being challenged by Gabriella Gugliotta-Comes. Bruno currently is the president of the regional school board.

There also is a one-year unexpired term representing Howell on the regional board up for election. Two candidates are seeking that term: Michael Jarmon and Joan Butcher-Farkas.
