Back To School: Howell District's 2023-24 School Calendar

HOWELL, NJ — Back-to-school planning has already begun in Howell, with calendars available to help parents prepare for the first day in the Howell Township School District.

The first day of school for most students in Howell's elementary district is Thursday, Sept. 7. Howell is part of the Freehold Regional High School District where the first day is Sept. 6.

Heading into the upcoming school year, some dates are subject to change. Here is the list of dates to know for this school year:

Howell Township School District

• First Day: Sept. 7.
• Thanksgiving Recess: Nov. 23 and 24, with a shortened session Nov. 22.
• Winter Recess: Dec. 23 through Jan. 1, 2024, with a shortened session Dec. 22.
• Spring Recess: March 29 through April 7, 2024, with a shortened session March 28.
• Last Day: Tentative graduation is June 17 or 18, 2024; last day for students and staff is June 20.

Two emergency closing dates have been added to the calendar.

Freehold Regional High School District (See full calendar here.)

• First Day: Sept. 6; Sept. 5 is ninth-grade orientation.
• Thanksgiving Recess: Nov. 22, early dismissal; Nov. 23 and 24.
• Winter Recess: Dec. 22, early dismissal; schools reopen Jan. 2, 2024.
• Spring Recess: March 28, 2024, early dismissal; schools reopen April 8, 2024.
• Last Day: June 18, 2024, with early dismissal. June 20 is graduation day, with a rain date of June 21, 2024.

Two days are built into the calendar for a weather or other emergency.
