Christmas Tree Collections Set To Begin In Howell
If you had a live Christmas tree in your home, Howell Township will be collecting them curbside.
HOWELL, NJ — Howell Township will begin collecting Christmas trees curbside on Monday for residents who had live trees in their homes this holiday season.
The curbside collection will begin in Zone A, and residents are asked to have their trees at the curb by Sunday.
Make sure there are no lights or ornaments left on the tree.

The Howell Township Fire Bureau said it is important to safely dispose of dried-out trees as soon as possible.
"As your Christmas tree dries out, it becomes more flammable — 35 percent of tree fires happen in January!" the fire bureau said. "Don’t wait! Safely dispose of your tree now to prevent any fire hazards."

From 2020 through 2024, there was an estimated annual average of 143 home structure fires that began with Christmas trees, resulting in seven civilian deaths, 13 civilian injuries, and $15 million in direct property damage, according to the National Fire Prevention Association.
