Delayed Opening For Howell Township Schools Amid Icy Forecast
The elementary and high school districts have delayed openings on Thursday, Feb. 6.
HOWELL, NJ — Howell Township students and staff have delayed openings for school on Thursday, Feb. 6, due to the weather forecast and possible icy conditions, officials announced.
The Howell Township Public Schools will have a 90-minute delayed opening. The Police Athletic League before-care programs are canceled as a result, district officials said.
The Freehold Regional High School District also will have a 90-minute delayed opening. The early schools — Freehold, Howell, Manalapan — will begin at 9 a.m. Late schools — Colts Neck, Freehold Township, Marlboro — will begin at 9:54 a.m.

In addition, the Monmouth County Vocational Technical Schools are on a delayed opening. All morning shared-time vocational programs will be canceled.
The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for most of New Jersey, with a wintry mix expected in Ocean County.

The coastal part of the county is expected to be spared the worst because temperatures are anticipated to warm up faster.
The rest of the area was expected to see a mix of snow turning to a mix for the morning commute Thursday, making for icy, hazardous conditions.
