Name the top issues currently facing your town and how you plan to address them:

  • Howell has always been considered a rural area. Affordable housing and other development are currently threatening Howells rural landscape. It would be irresponsible to try and prohibit all development. Building and development must be properly located. Issues such as traffic congestion, current zoning regulations and the long term Master Plan need to be looked at and applied responsibly. As we move forward from here, development cannot be haphazardly placed. My intention is to keep an eye on these items and ensure that they are done in a responsible way and in a way that maintains the rural character of the town.
  • Taxes are on the mind of every person in this town. Understandably as costs increase and budgets go up the taxes need to be increased but they need to be done responsibly. It's not an open checkbook. My intention is to keep a close eye on all our spending and evaluate our priorities to ensure we are holding the line on spending. We are a hard-working, middle-class community and Howell families simply cannot afford much more. Being 70 and a senior citizen, I am sensitive to the seniors and the effects that tax increases on us.

Identify specific goals or ideas you have to enhance life in your town:

Howell is a great place to live and raise a family. The rural aspect as well as Howells central location relative to the Shore makes it a very desirable place to live.

hose are the reasons we moved here 25 years ago. It offers so much to everyone from young children to senior citizens.

My goal is to keep it that way. I would also like to explore any and all funding opportunities for the town to purchase more open space.

What in your experience or background prepares you for election to office:

I would consider myself to be a highly educated, disciplined and very responsible individual.

I am a excellent researcher and planner. My background in law enforcement and education gives me insight into two of the most important systems in this town.

I wholeheartedly support all our first responders and education system. Over the past several years I thought it was important to attend the council meetings, and watch planning and zoning board meetings.

I have testified in front of these bodies where I thought it was necessary. I have also done my research to learn everything I can about the landscape, zoning, Master Plan, affordable housing requirements and any other proposed building in Howell.
