Get Ready To 'Deck The Howells' In Holiday Decorating Contest

HOWELL, NJ — The second annual Howell Holiday Decorating contest gets underway Dec. 8 to Dec. 17, with registration forms due Dec. 6.

Decorate your home and yard in the most creative or festive way possible to be a strong contender.

Fill out the information form, include a picture and e-mail it to sfecher@twp.howell.nj.us, Community Relations director.

Participants agree to have photos of their decorated exteriors posted on Howell Township's website, Facebook and/or posted in local media.

The contest is sponsored by Certified Auto Mall of Howell.

A voting committee will view the displays residents create, plus residents will vote online for their favorite holiday display.

"We encourage all residents to take part and see how creative our neighbors can be. This is an excellent opportunity to increase community pride," Fecher says.

Here are the prizes for best decorations. Winners will be announced after Dec. 19:

• Voting Committee Overall: $100 gift card
• Resident Online Voting First Place: $100 gift card
• Resident Online Voting Second Place: $50 gift card

Decorations must be visible from the roadway. Participants must ensure that all lights, animations, blowups and decorations are in place and in working order by Dec. 8 in order to be judged. Contest is for exterior decorations only, including window decorations visible from the outside.

Gingerbread House Decorating Contest

Howell is also presenting a Gingerbread House Decorating Contest with drop-off on Dec. 4 at the Municipal Building.

There are three age-group categories: 10 and under; 11 to 17; 18 and older.

Judging will take place online by Facebook likes and a ballot box at the Municipal Building Until Dec. 15. Visit the township Facebook site here.
